Systems Engineer

Augustine Consulting, Inc. a professional services firm providing select services to national defense agencies, seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to serve as a part of the Company’s Technical Services team that supports PM Soldier Protection and Individual Equipment (PM SPIE).

As a Systems Engineer you will:

  • Manage systems engineering activities including requirements analyses, functional analyses, design solutions formulation, systems analysis and control, and generation and maintenance of systems architecture products.
  • Apply system engineering principles and procedures to translate quantified needs/requirements into system performance parameters and the identification of system/item configuration.
  • Formulate and issue systems engineering documents, processes, procedures and milestones.
  • Apply a thorough knowledge of the Systems Engineering Management Process and Implementation, as applied to the Department of Army/DOD Acquisition process throughout all life cycle phases; knowledge of DOD policies on Systems Engineering, Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) and IPT Management; and ability to coordinate and negotiate design and engineering activities with other related programs and organizations. 
  • Provide expert and authoritative advice affecting critical programs and technologies.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all technical aspects of your assigned program.
  • Perform top level design, development, integration, testing, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Translate military operational and mission requirements into practical system concepts and performance specifications.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation such as specifications, engineering drawings, system interface requirements, and engineering changes.
  • Participate in post awards, program reviews, design reviews, and IPTs as the project engineer and/or technical expert on assigned programs.
  • Evaluate design efforts to ensure integration of all the engineering disciplines and adequacy of the analyses performed, bringing in additional technical expertise as needed.
  • Review test plans, procedures, and reports for technical adequacy on assigned programs, for both Government and contractor tests, as well as all failure reports.
  • Review and evaluate system performance against specification requirements, monitor and assess field performance, and assess risk of meeting user and specification requirements.
  • Initiate engineering change proposals and waivers/deviations as required and conduct physical and functional configuration audits. 
  • Review program management documents to ensure accuracy and adequacy of technical content.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 10 years’ relevant experience
  • Must be permanent resident of the U.S. or U.S. citizen
  • Equivalent or experience commensurate with DAWIA level II SPRDE certification
  • Subject matter expertise in Systems Engineering processes and techniques
  • Have the ability to lead engineering efforts with minimal oversight
  • Have the ability to communicate with executive management to ensure program related issues are addressed.
  • Have the ability to think and act independently in a distributed work situation
  • Must possess a SECRET clearance


Desired Qualifications:

  • A thorough understanding of operating a computer, which includes Microsoft Office 365 Suite of applications.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to obtain a TOP SECRET Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance
